Why is 1.00am selected as the time to alter the clocks to read 2.00am?

Do Big Ben's clock hands move on one hour at this precise time?

The powers that be, probably think that we are all tucked up in our little beds and it will cause little disruption to our lives: We do it at 2am here in Spain so that's still 1am your time!

it always used to be 2am didnlt it? My laptop suddenly added the hour at 1am and i was abit surprised.

Whatever time it happens, I don't think the extra hour of daylight in the evening is worth all the fuss. It means that meal times have to be prepared sooner and bedtime arrives before it gets dark.

When Clocks are put back they are put back at 2am, when they go forward they go forward at 1am
