jayne, i just love chowder. there's a little place in rose street in edinburgh (or used to be, haven't been for a few years) which does the best chowder i've ever tasted. i'd go straight for the crusty bread.
funnily enough, i have some crusty bread warming and crusting in the oven right this minute. i'll think of you when i eat my chilli and dip it in later.
Best chowder ever: The National Hotel, Jamestown CA. Came as a 'side' after starter, with salad and before main meal, wherever we ate after that we had one meal between two! Came back weighing more than my suitcase (after I'd bought more clothes and shoes!)
Maybe they'll send me the recipe if I ask nicely, must try and make it myself. Just buy it in tins now, I'm afraid. Anyone recommend a good recipe? Will check some sites. Thank you.
Wheaten.
