This is the document, crafty, it's from VOSA:

Rules on Drivers’ Hours and Tachographs
Goods vehicles in the UK and Europe
(Revised 2009 GV262 – 02)

it says

Vehicles used for the carriage of goods by road and with a maximum permissible weight (including any trailer or semi-trailer) of over 3.5 tonnes are in scope of the EU rules.

It's weight, not length - see page 6 here - any vehicle over 3.5 tonnes including any trailer http://www2.dft.gov.u...rd-.pdf?view=Standard

When I looked into it it only applied if it was being used for financial gain and outside 50km of your base.
Maximum length in the UK is 7m (23 feet) not including the draw bar if the towing vehicle is less than 7.5 tonnes.
Is it right that any driver using a digital card
cannot drive two saturdays on the trot
after driving monday to friday
thank you
