When layering strawberries do I cut it off from the main plant or leave it attached while it roots? Thanks in anticipation.

I don't but perhaps others do.
Leave it attached until rooted, then plant it into the soil.
Yes .. Peg it or wire-staple down, wait til rooted, then sever away and pot on.
Quite often, strawb runners will have roots before they touch the soil....if this is the case, cut em off and pot em up. Otherwise, do as said and just leave them attached until rooted and then cut the runner.
