The horrors that the forces in Afghan are subjected to on a daily basis means that they can see enemies everywhere and that they can get a warped sense of right and wrong. Whilst I am not condoning his actions in any way, anymore than I would condone any other such act, I think that the sentence is a fair one. He will have to live with the horror of what he has done as well as the shame and the dishonour of his unit for the rest of his life and I think that is punishment enough.
