Well, as the report asks, "what do you think? Should Mr Richards be allowed to display his poster?"

1) Freedom of speech, many people are allowed to say exactly what they want, where they want, and a huge majority offend someone i.e. political parties. pro/anti hunting types etc so why is this poor chap being picked on? Someone complained, simples, the police have to act on a complaint without disclosing the complainant.
2) Religious, as Infomaniac says all sorts of places of worship, put up, what I regard as lies about a mythical being, in an attempt to indoctrinate the population. I have to say this annoys me, but because it is accepted its allowed so this gentleman should be allowed to but his sign up. He of course would lack the resources but he should sue. The dual standards exhibited by society are stunning, in both there archaic banality and stupidly.
The more of us who follow Mr Richards example, the more society will understand that the old superstitions are becoming more and more unacceptable to the majority not the minority.

Dave, you are not wrong..
Keyplus, if you keep trying hard enough you may eventually convince yourself that atheists are always trying to convince themselves that god doesn't exist. Au contraire matey, that is probably the least likely thing that they would think about, what does give them some concern is that so many people are happy to give up their right to free will and the ability (however limited) to think.

Yes, of course, there are responsibilities that attach to people who associate together in love for God.
They cannot be like careless, godless people who must continually seek some new thrill or way to pass the time. No, rather, a worthwhile association leads to worthwhile activities. And in a true Christian society wherein people truly bear one another’s burdens you soon come to appreciate that serving God in a responsible manner is not fair tale. It is, in fact, a pleasure.

Goodlife, I suggested only recently that you check out humanist organisations that, without religion, work solely for the benefit of others – but clearly that, like everything else those who disagree with you say, went right over your head. Your arrogance is such that you have no hesitation in crowing from the imaginary lofty heights to which you think you have elevated yourself - and in so doing, you have no hesitation in insulting genuinely caring people. Not only insufferably ignorant – but quite shameful!

Plenty of secular people come together to help each other without having the need to worship an imaginary father figure. We have great pleasure doing it also.
The Hewbrews had great pleasure hacking many tens of thousands of men, women and children to death on the command of their god. Perhaps you could answer my recent question about whether you would follow god's orders to massacre.

The point to have in mind in all of this is that Jehovah God is the One who has made these provisions possible. This is the time when he is having the good news of the Kingdom preached in all the inhabited earth. (Matt. 24:14) This is the time when he is giving all nations warning about disaster ahead—the complete end of this entire wicked system of things. This is when he bids those who love him, “Lift your heads up, because your deliverance is getting near.” (Luke 21:28) Yes, the is opportunity for multitudes of humble persons to give evidence, by word and deed, of their heartfelt appreciation for God’s grand purpose.

Why does goodlife bother to quote when their post is utterly irrelevant to that quote?
"Any time now" has been the story from the religious for two thousand years and still not even an inkling of evidence that there is a god. I guess we should admire their patience.
"We will know it is time when things get really bad". Well things are getting better. If we took out the conflicts driven by religion we would have even less to deal with and could get on with solving the problems we face.
The greatest problem remaining on this planet is that of the Abrahamic faiths and their insurmountable conflicting bigotry. Only by bringing about their demise will we have any chance of lasting peace.
But unlike they who uphold sacrifice and death as central tenets, atheists know that our cause will be won not by conflict but by attrition. We know that the faithful are beyond recovery but we will not stand back and silently let their poison be fed to another generation of children.

Well said woofgang. I really don't understand why the faithful are so threatened by criticism. Are not they supposed to have "faith"?
The fact is that religion has relied on executing the "heretics" to silence all criticism or they would not have survived this long.
But now the genie of genuine knowledge and rational thought has escaped and try as they might it isn't going back in that bottle. Religion will die a slow death over many generations but die it must if we are to become what we can be.

Yes, because of you not being able to view things, not from the standpoint of imperfect, short-lived humans, but from that of eternity, Jehovah God is never pressured by anxiety to see something realized before time runs out on him. (2 Pet. 3:8) He is able to survey the whole stream of time and determine just when to act and to cause his unfailing purposes to work out precisely at the right time, the best time for all concerned, neither too soon nor too late.
