For you Baldric, this was a part of a Song I wrote for my brother that dies 2 years ago in Oz.
"Brother can you hear me"
You may not be here But I hear you
There maybe water between us But I see & can feel you
You are not alone & I love you,
I will not go any more into the lyrics as there is a lot of emotion in the words.
A lot get comfort in a lot of avenues, this is mine.

Re the OP, yes and yes and yes. We used an agency as we felt that would suit us better than doing it ourselves - it's been well worth it. Each to their own re the intermediary, as has been said before - if you have time to do the chasing, worth it, if you haven't - then do what we did.
Btw re the early response on this thread, you don't need a policy number to be able to claim, where they ask for policy number I just reentered the card or loan number, that was quite sufficient.

Sher, what nibble says is right, when we filled in our forms (his and mine) I don't think the credit card companies ever gave us a separate policy number. We just wrote the card numbers again in the box for the policy number - it didn't present any problem at all. All we had to do was send in the form and a copy of the old credit card or loan statement with a line showing the charge for PPI being made to the account.
