Sitting Here Getting All Emotional

Lil pasta is in NY right now...yesterday she visited my brother and his family with her Italian BF. She and I were last there six years ago.
I am reading the reactions now...from my bro,my sis-in-law, and lil pasta....and I am welling up. Silly I guess...I still get 'homesick' I suppose.

Lil pasta and I hope to go next year for Thanksgiving...the 'big one'. I want to have a proper family holiday with my brother and his family...something I miss since being on my own.

Pastafreak, i feel for you, but I'm the opposite, our family are here andone of our nearest and dearest is living in US, coming home soon for a week and we can't wait

Aah! I feel for you. Hard isn't it? Get saving may be the answer, but then you have parting, which is almost as bad. And for a mother "the umbilical cord is never broken", is it? Wherever they are, you think about them. I used to say that it was good thing to marry a girl from a long way away because the in-laws wouldn't visit often, but there is another side to it! (Managed it twice: I was in London or Newmarket and the wives were from north Lancashire and Wales. Current partner is from Canada. I'm getting better at it!)

can you raise the money this year and go this year - you do have another 2and half months of heavy saving. Thanksgiving is the last Thursday of November.

Not this year,as lil pasta will be too busy. She will be in her third and final year of her PhD. So-thats why we are aiming to go next year...hopefully she will be finished by then.
