Is The General Public Sick And Tired Of Conflict Abroad?
Our parliament voted ‘no’ to intervention in Syria, Obama has now decided to put the USA’s intervention to the vote of congress, and I’m now wondering what would happen if we simply withdrew completely and permanently from all these pockets of hopeless and seemingly endless turmoil and left the whole lot to sort themselves out – or not?

Israel, of course, has already launched attacks on Damascus this year. And nothing happened.
Which makes me think that if the US does it Syria will also not hit out at Israel, if they don't do it when the Israelis themselves attack them.
Anyway, that was not wholly to the main question ...

No, I don't agree that this crisis will or may take us to World War 3.
The world is simply not lined up politically the way it was at the time of the first two world wars, apart from anything else.
I think it is important though that, however it may be done, the use of these chemical weapons does not spiral out of control. There is, apart from anything else, a chance they could fall into even worse hands than those of Assad.

Naomi, i agree that this could possibly, in the long run, lead up to a potentially bigger war, perhaps even a "world war 3". Reasons:
1: All the big countries are trying to get involved (USA, UK, Russia, France)
2: The tensions are all their between Syria and Israel, as well as other countries.
3: Syria have said that if we attack or intervene they will not hesitate to fight back, and i do believe they will stick by those words.
4: Syria have powerful allies (Russia, Iran etc)
So yes, i hate to admit it, but a larger war could be possible. I do hope i am wrong however.
