No shampoo or treatment gets rid of them. the ends are split as they are dry, broken, just like a split nail. Cut it off, make a nice new blunt end again. Shampoos etc may smooth them down but the only way to get rid of them is to chop them off.

Isn't all hair dead? I thought split ends were just hair in poor condition and dried out. What would I know, I almost forgot what its like to have hair.

I agree though, get it cut.

Hair ends are the oldest growth & subject to pressure from brushing & utensils over time. If you dont cut regularly the split spreads up the hair shaft & causes tangles.
