Computer Slow To Boot Up

My computer is running exactly the same after it's booted up but is taking about 10 minutes to boot up. I thought it was because I'd installed an adobe flash thingie - have uninstalled that but it's made no difference. To my knowledge I haven't installed any add ons etc. Any help in very, very simple terms would be very gratefully received. Thank you

Thanks for that methyl but would that cause my computer to be that slow all morning? Have switched it on and off half a dozen times.

Maybe you need to check what it is running at start up. There may be stuff you don't believe you need, and can remove.

thanks again methyl - have decided to leave it on all the time and see what happens.
Old Geezer - I'd be too scared to delete anything! knowing me I'd make a complete hash up but thank you for replying.

you are tempting me to go outside my comfort zone OG! but, like Oscar Wilde I can resist everything except temptation so will check it out more thoroughly when I have some quiet time. Thank you
