Problem With Email
6 Answers
I have been advised to check the settings but being a
complete ignoramus I don't know where they are.
Apparently my incoming/ outgoing ports could be wrong
as could the incoming/outgoing server names.
Can someone please tell me how I can find the section with
all this information?

So the first thing we'll need to know is the name of the email client that you're using.
However it won't help you much if we simply tell you where to find the settings; you'll also need to know the correct information to enter there. So we need to know which email provider you're using (i.e. what comes after @ in your email address).

This would be to do with your e-mail client's settings. I suspect folk would need to know more about your set-up.
Meanwhile look into it's account setting, i.e. what has been set up to communicate with the e-mail server on the Net from which it downloads your e-mails.
The server web-site itself is likely to have information on what should be set to what to get it to work properly.

Look for your username in the left-hand column of Windows Live Mail. Right-click on it and select 'Properties'.
Click on the 'Servers' tab.
The outgoing (SMTP) server should show smtp.iomartmail.com
If you've been using the (older) POP3 protocol, that should be indicated next to 'my incoming mail server is'. If so, the Incoming Mail (POP3) server field should show pop.iomartmail.com
If you've been using the (newer) IMAP protocol, that should be indicated next to 'my incoming mail server is'. If so, the Incoming Mail (IMAP) server field should show imap.iomartmail.com
