Off To France Tomorrow.

I'm a bit concerned about travelling through the tunnel. What delays will we encounter going and even worse coming home? Last time we went to France earlier this year there was hundreds of immigrants thronging the roads around Calais, that was intimidating enough but I think it is even worse now.

I don't envy you one bit Caran, it looks really scary around the ports. But I'm very upset at the sight of the poor little children caught up in it all. You take care and keep your car doors locked! Have a good holiday x

We are going via the tunnel tomorrow afternoon. I suppose I am more worried about the return journey than the going journey.

Caran...hope everything is OK. The worst of the problems at Calais seems to over, although it still looks awful. I am guessing the worst that can happen is that your train is delayed. Let us all know when you get to the side please.

It is difficult to predict - sometimes the journey is free flowing, other times the tracks are blocked and the trains delayed for a considerable time.

All you can do is to leave plenty of time, pack some supplies for the journey home, keep your doors locked from the inside at all times and if you're in a campervan/caravan consider a double steel lock for the extra door.

Also, if you're stocking up on wine, best not to do it within 30 miles of the port. The hypermarkets are easy targets these days for opportunists.
