The Princess and the Frog (2009)
The Princess and the Frog is a classic Disney tale of love and hard work. The Princess and the Frog moves the classic fairy tale to a snazzy version of 1920s New Orleans from the directors of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. Discover what really happened after the princess kissed the frog in an inspired twist on the world's most famous kiss.
Many viewers were happy that Disney had returned to the ‘old’ hand drawn style of animation for this film. Computer generated images do not always have the magic of the brilliant artwork of animation. In addition, the unusual characters were a welcome change from saccharine stereotypes that often populate Disney films.
The "Princess" is a hard worker who is working towards her dream, not simply dreaming about it. The Prince is a lazy bum who thinks money can buy happiness. The fairy godmother doesn't just wave her wand and grant their wishes but actually tells them what they need to do to make their own wishes come true.
The film has also been critically acclaimed for the soundtrack. Randy Newman composed, arranged, and conducted the music for the film, a mixture of jazz, zydeco, blues, and gospel styles performed by the voice cast members for their respective characters.
