The ULEZ zone is being extended to be anywhere inside the M25 at the end of August. It will only affect me in that there will be a few museums and National Trust properties that I shall no longer be visiting.
er - (guessing) extension of the ULEZ zone to cover all Greater London resulting in fossil fuelled car owners having to pay £12.50 per day to drive there.
Very few cars do not meet the emission standards, so it is likely hardly anyone will need to buy a new vehicle.
// 94% of vehicles seen driving in the current zone now meet the strict emissions standards on an average day, significantly higher than the 39% in 2017 when the ULEZ was first announced. This has helped to reduce harmful nitrogen dioxide pollution by nearly half in central London. //
Having to pay £12.50 each time you drive into a Greater London Borough, if the car is diesel and older than 2016. Ichkeria, its in all the news at the moment.
// Air pollution increases the risk of life-changing illnesses such as cancer, asthma, lung disease and dementia in older people, even leading to thousands of Londoners dying prematurely each year.
The aim of the ULEZ is to improve air quality by reducing the number of vehicles in London that don't meet emissions standards. //
people have already had several years' notice to buy a new(er) car, which many will have done anyway even if they've never heard of Ulez; so it's hardly a shock.
Another Labour, "lets hit the workers" initiative, if this was Boris the lefties would be spitting out their organic peace porridge! I feel sorry for all the tradesmen, already getting hammered with parking fines etc, pretty soon you won't be able to get an electrician, plumber etc in the Metropolis.
Not that I'm ever gonna drive in that London (or even risk going there at all!) but I just checked my car & it IS ULEZ compliant. RAV4 2.2 diesel reg in 2011.
