can any believer in religion please tell me why an almighty, omnipotent god needs people to do his bidding here on earth?
Had a conversation with a couple of JW door knockers a few days ago who were convinced that they were doing gods work, I asked them why he cant do his own work. if he wants me to know about the bible why cant he tell me himself? Its something that ive noticed with others....evangelical christians, mormons etc. Its the same with muslim fanatics who believe that commiting attrocities is doing gods work. If god's got a problem with infidels why cant he sort it himself?
I'd be genuinely interested to hear from anyone who believes that they are doing gods work and tell me why god cant do things for himself.

I do so enjoy Goodlife's non sequiturs. But I do know my bible. I know it very well. But I still can't see what I have to accept it as valid. It is no more convincing truth than Grimm's Fairy Tales. I read the bible to find ammunition against believers. And believe me, I find tons of ammunition.

The real answer is that he doesn't need us to do anything for him, but it's part of a testing process. He created us with free will, and wants to see if we're worthy of going to live with him when we die.

We can only do this by choosing to do his will. This could be anything from wearing a funny hat on Tuesdays to only eating fish while standing on one leg to killing people we think he might not approve of. It's not clear though - you pretty much have to guess what he wants because there are various different versions of it that no-one can agree on.

It's all very strange and mysterious but that's the way he rolls.

The validity of the bible is that it exists, thus proving that the author(s) of the bible could write or could afford to employ a scribe, or had a scribe as a slave or knew somebody who had nothing better to do than write down their rambling accounts of poorly remembered events.
That is all.

Actually no. I thought the opening was tripe but It got better toward the end.

We don't know. It's a mystery to most of us. Khandro seems to have the answers but he's pretty mysterious too - he drops the odd pearl of wisdom wrapped in a riddle every now and then.

I can see his words. I have read enough of Andy's posts to know he is not hysterical and irrational. Hopefully, he will return soon to speak for himself. I will be amazed if he returns to say he thinks almost all believers are killers, though.
