Should I keep all fingers crossed that it flows gently?

Was this ale you bought called Judas a carry-out? (Gets his coat).

Well done, Sandy - keep putting one foot in front of the other and you'll get there! Had email from French friend today and she was telling me how insufferably hot it was - and that's in the Charente! Hotter where you are and wildfires abounding. Take care. :)

Today saw the 13 mile walk from Zuburi to Pamplona.
First though a bit about last night in Zuburi. There seemed to be wine enough for those who wanted it at the pilgrim meal. I hardly drank half of my second glass. I was tired and felt like an early night. There were two rooms with 8 bunks in each. At a charge of 15 Euros they'd be making more than 1600 euros a week in the busy season. The youngster allocating the bunks must have sussed out the snorers and put them all together. It didn't make for a quiet night.
There was also a Swedish woman walking with her two large dogs. They even had little packs on their backs. Because lots of places won't take dogs she had to carry loads of extra
Kit. It totalled more than 50lbs. I believe that's close to the weight Marines carried in the Falklands. Respect to her, and to them. My pack of about 14lb is heavy enough.
Today was mostly walking on rocky paths which meant you had to watch every step. It was also very hot. Later, in Pamplona, I saw one of those digital clocks outside a shop which also gives a temperature reading. It said 35 which is almost 100F.
I found a hotel here which gives a pilgrim discount so will have an undisturbed nights sleep. There's a pizza place just across the street and I'll get something to eat from there later.
Taking it easy and everything is running smoothly.
Glad to hear from you.

The weather doesn't sound very suitable for dogs. If they collapse she is going to carry them home. I hope she steers clear of your Korean nun. Dog stew springs to mind.

Full of respect and admiration for you Sandy. Keep going lad; and enjoy your pizza.
Can we have this thread as a 'sticky' or whatever it's called? Can someone ask the Ed, please?
Good idea, Tilly. Ed? Ed!!!!! Pretty please :)

Beside the pizza place there's a beer shop and I went in for a bottle. In the fridge one caught my eye, 'Judas'. A strange name for a beer but when I got it back I saw why. It's 8.5% alcohol. In the same way that Stella Artois is sometimes called, 'wife beater', a few bottles of this would betray hidden resentments or anger.
good luck Sandy xx

Tilly, your post on Saturday evening, 'Does you free wine not then lead to a free bed, Sandy?', may well do for attractive young female pilgrims. But slightly more mature ladies would need extra strong beer goggles to see anything interesting in me.

Thank you, Murraymints.

Sandy, I was only concerned about where you were sleeping after each arduous day. :-)
Jackdaw, that's really good! :-)

Can't see anything equalling that for BA. :-))

Tilly, there are municipal hostels along the way where you can get a bed for 10 euros. The stream of pilgrims along the Camino is a goldmine. It must bring millions each year into the local economy.
That sounds good value, especially if you're young. Too old for that kind of lifestyle now, I'm afraid.
