It seems women (Ladies) are already allowed in as guests so the issue is about membership. Do many attend?

and it's £1600 pa membership fee!

Yes we often have ladies in, I think our heating is up too high, they keep taking off things.

I wouldn't join any club that would have me as a member!

£1600 is a bit cheap really.  Raise it a bit to ensure the Hoi Polloi cant get in.

If either sex want a place of their own they should be allowed it, and the other sex can then look on in suspicion. Seems to me that if a club is formed to be a men only club (or conversely a women only club) it's a bit off for new members to hold a vote and ruin it for the others. Why didn't they just go off and form a mixed sex, club (as opposed to a mixed, sex club) elsewhere instead ?

It seems a bit creepy.

I refused to join because of their policy on women members.

Perhaps I'll just have to take up their offer now, if only to stop the pleading from the Chairman.

I was once invited to a female private members club in Australia. I found it very elitist - I wouldn't go again.
