Togo, I said, in a post brexit UK it may well be an advantage to be one of those UK citizens who also have the right of unrestricted access to the EU.
It is a hypothetical situation at present. I am 66 and retired but I would like the right to retire to Europe if I so choose. At the moment I stand to lose that right! The EU citizenship option would allow me to keep that right.
I many thousands of others will share my view, remember 48% of us voted to remain in the EU and we are in danger of being ignored. This is the ideal solution, remain as an EU citizen or become a citizen of the UK only. Where is your problem with that?
//It is a hypothetical situation at present. I am 66 and retired but I would like the right to retire to Europe if I so choose. At the moment I stand to lose that right//
Who is threatening to "remove" your right to retire to the EU?
Togo, leaving the EU will remove the RIGHT of all UK citizens to live and work anywhere in the EU with no restriction at all.
Yes, we will have concessions and arrangements but that is NOT a substitute for having an absolute 'Right' Concessions and arrangements can be removed or altered 'Rights' can not. Unless of course you allow the government to remove those rights by 'Royal Prerogative'
//Togo, leaving the EU will remove the RIGHT of all UK citizens to live and work anywhere in the EU with no restriction at all//

Okay I'll try again WHO is removing your RIGHT to live or work anywhere in the EU?...... Clue is it (a) Westminster or (b) Brussels? As far as I can see all Westminster is asking is the Parliamentary right to decide who we allow in, not who we let out. Now Brussels appear to, crave letting everybody in.....but no one out. Or, according to you, everyone except a British passport holder is allowed free range across Europe whether they have the means, or capacity, to integrate or not. You are afraid of a peevish, narrow minded Euro pyramid scheme punishment policy, but are blaming those of us who know their mind set as the villains.
Togo, at present all EU citizens have the 'Right' to travel , live , work anywhere in the EU. It is a 'Right' not a concession or agreement!
Once the UK leaves the EU it's citizens will no longer have that 'right'!
It is not a person or entity that is going to take away that 'right', it is a fact of leaving the EU.
Is that clear enough for you?
Travel within Europe will still take place once we are outside the EU but it will be by concession, agreement or arrangement NOT AS A RIGHT!!
As I have said several times there is a huge difference between an arrangement, concession or agreement and a basic right!
The Government of the UK has not threatened or decided that you will have no RIGHT to live or work within the EU. Now show me where that has been stated. These "basic" rights seem not to difficult to acquire or to obtain throughout the EU zone so what exactly is your fear?
The reason for the existence of the EU is to allow 'freedom of movement' throughout Europe for all EU citizens.
Our main reason for leaving is to 'regain control of out borders' and control immigration from the EU. We can't have it both ways, if EU citizens are not free to come here our citizens can not expect free unlimited access to the EU.
Yes, what you say seems clear to me to me Eddie.
Have not read much of this thread because it is no doubt like other similar ones where people are just clutching onto any situation which may add credibility to their argument.
What a load of semantics! Who cares? If you want to go and live in Europe there's nothing stopping you. Right or Concession? Makes no difference as long as you achieve your objective.
// We can't have it both ways, if EU citizens are not free to come here our citizens can not expect free unlimited access to the EU.//

Who says that? Are EU "citizens barred access to the rest of the World now that the UK is about to leave the Ponzi? Is the rest of the World barred access to the EU because we are not going to be in the corrupt club? Does the EU cause China, America, Australia, South Africa, Japan, Canada, etc, etc. the restrictions that you are highlighting? Or is it a "special" reprimand that you are anticipating, especially designed for Great Britain by the caring sharing EU "Liberal" would be elite?
^ I know but trying to get the message over to a 'died in the wood Brexiter' is nearly impossible!
Look at some of the answers on this thread, the question setter claims his link says the exact opposite of what it actually does say.
Does not say a lot for the IQ and reasoning power of the average 'Brexiter'!
One AB brexit supporter has actually admitted to being Xenophobic
ff @ 21.51 explain it to Eddie then.
The phrase is, 'Dyed in the wool'.
That was to ff
Jackdaw33 This thread is about the possibility of UK citizens being offered a chance to retain their status as 'EU citizens' post Brexit.
No mention anywhere of moving to Europe, the entire idea is that after Brexit any UK citizen would be offered the chance to have a form of 'Dual nationality' by retaining their present status of being EU citizens as well as being full British citizens.
Togo both f f and I understand, it's you that seems to be having a problem!
Not unusual.
//One AB brexit supporter has actually admitted to being Xenophobic //

That is called "proof" that all who voted out, are in the narrow minds of all Remoaners, Xenophobic then..... is it not? So all who voted in, are anti British, if just one who voted thus is? Sauce for the goose etc.etc.
Sheep tend not to like the word wool Jackdaw. Haha
You'd need to finspd some proof of that Togo, not that I concur with your wildly inaccurate summation.
