Which AnswerBank Topics Would You Like To See Moved or Removed?
55 Answers
We've had a little bit of a cull recently. We've removed the "Play" and "Poll Discussions" topics as they seemed like unnecessary clutter.
(For the few of you who actually play the game in Play, they've been re-homed under Gaming - We may bring back Play in the future, but with a much more exciting range of games.)
I wondered what else you'd like to see shot of? Or what you'd like moved under a different section. For example, would "Weather" work better under ChatterBank? After all, there is a lot of "Weather Chat" in Chatterbank!
What else would you all like to see chopped or changed?

Consequently, as a lot of folk are inclined to post in the main heading, I go along with what what B00 has said..
"Do we even need sub topics at all? All seem pretty pointless to me."

While it's useful to have an 'Editor's Blog', it needs to be a section where only the Editor can post a 'question'. (The Editor could then decide, based upon the content of each blog item, whether to allow 'answers' or to make that 'thread' one which was closed to posts).
Weather doesn't need to exist as a separate topic. Questions about, say, how clouds are formed could go into 'Science', whereas questions about the weather in the Canary Islands in January could go into 'Travel'.
'Hobbies & Interests' should become a main topic heading, rather than be hidden away under 'society & Culture'.
A lot of people don't know what clicking on the 'Topics' heading does. In order to help newbies, it should be replaced with a box labelled something like 'Click here to reveal all sub-topics'.

I agree that some of the sub topics are underused. However rather than remove them I think it would be more efficient if it became impossible to post under the main heading if there are subfolders to chose from. Eg click on sport and you will need to chose a sub topic before you can post. That stops the muddle under the main heading.
I agree that hobbies and interests should be a heading of its own and could even have a couple of subs if there were regular themes. I'm not sure we need "Suggestions" as well as "Editors Blog" they read very similar to me. I'd like to see a theatre sub under "arts and literature" for those "Anyone seen Wicked posts.
I particularly like the topic heading "Body and Soul". It implies there is more than just health issues going on here. Where as the subs in Phrases and Sayings are rarely used and the heading could simply be called Jokes with the subs deleted. Weather popped into science and we're all tidy!
