"Back Arrow" Issues

Morning,

We're working on a resolution to the problem which sees IE9 users unable to click back to previous pages.

The bug is one in IE9 - it considers each ad on the page to be a separate page (the way we show ads is normal industry standard, we're not doing anything odd here.)

A simple solution is to switch to FireFox and update to the latest version. A quick how to can be found here: http://www.theanswerb...our-internet-browser/

Some have suggested there is an issue in other browsers, if you've had an issue similar to this, please inform us of the browser version below. I've yet to be able to replicate any of these issues in other browsers.

There was a post last night suggesting it was a security concern regarding the issue. This is not true, the post was alarmist and misinformed. It has since been removed to avoid confusion.

Please direct others who are talking about this subject to this thread.

I,m afraid I dont know too much,re the technicalities.
I think my browser is Windows Vista Home Basic,if that is right.
Still can,t use the arrows though.

That's your version of windows.

while viewing any web page click on the help menu at the top (if you can't see a help menu press ALT to make it appear) and select about <name of browser> to show what browser and what version you are using.

Oh yeah. Can confirm when I click the back button, stuff all happens and I'm using IE8.

OK, just built a windows7 machine (I love virtualisation:)) with IE8 and the back button is not working, and hovering over it (or bringing up the back list) shows back to advertisement rather than the previous page and compatibility mode doesn't fix it.

I'm not sure how to elaborate Chuck. Stuff all happening is about the essence of it.

I can add that when you click the back button, a green line appears at the bottom as if it's loading something. Then stuff all happens.

Well I'm using Firefox and the back arrow hasn't worked all week. Tried Google Chrome and the back arrow works but there is a" 500 server error " message across the top of the page.

Belated Good Morning chaps ...

... using FF 3.6.24 here (vista business 64 bit)

... if you click on 'recent pages' (tiny little downward arrow next to the two blue ones) the list shows four entries for each AB page accessed.

So the back arrow appears not to work, but you can select any of the four entries for a previous page and navigate to it.

Firefox working fine for me, been giving the back arrow a good working out, as an experiment.

That's a fairly interesting read. Those with problems in FF, do you use adblocker?

‘tis very strange, Mr. Ed!? Just tested it again and it’s still the same? With my idiot knowledge of all things computery the bit I can’t understand is how it continues to gobble up my memory even after I’ve closed the AB tab, it just keeps skyrocketing until I get a memory usage warning from AVG and I have to restart Firefox?
