I was thinking of things to pop into a welcome email.

I've taken the sensible ones on board.

Do you think it's worth mentioning things like the MofC, the fantasy football thread, the weight-loss thread etc? I always see them as "clubs" within the site - it could prop up membership a bit further?
i'm very sensible i'll have you know, all this silliness, its just for show. i even wear sensible shoes
What sensible ones?
China Doll should be referred to as your majesty and bacon rolls should be available for her consumption at all times... although not now as I have a bellyache.
Sorry Ed................I think it would be good to mention the 'added extras' too. The dieting one should be popular, especially at this time of year.
Just pop a link to this thread, Ed....it does show that half of us are barking mad or purring along.....
Yes Ed....mention them. But let them know they don't have to be 50....
You can make 'virtual' friends for life.

I've only been here since April or so last year and I still feel new.
Check out Mamya's Night Night song thread.
welcome to answerbank. an electronic asylum filled with babbling loonies.
Hi Ed,

A welcome email is an excellent idea. I would definitely tell new users to have a good look round the site to familiarise themselves with how it "works" before starting their first thread. I would also mention that they should read the Site Rules and point out to them where they can be found... ;-)

I would further mention that on AB, as on every other similar site, there will inevitably be disagreements and spats - it's human nature - and they may find themselves on the receiving end, but they should not take this personally; reassure them that the site is moderated and that such posts will be removed very quickly.
Don't try to join in on Chatterbank as 99% of the time you will be ignored, keep reading though because you will get some laughs.
