Where has my avatar gone?

I have been registered on this site for some time and had an avatar, but now, any posts I make do not show this avatar but just the default one. How can I get it back?

Check your profile to see if box is ticked.

Have you changed the email address that use use for either Answerbank or Gravatar? They need to be the same.

I have checked my profile box and my avatar is said to be active. As far as I know. I have not changed my email address recently (and it is only recently my avatar has disappeared) but I do see that I have an incorrect email address registered in my profile, but I seem unable to change it to my current email address. So that is my next question. How can I change my email address in my profile?

Just type your new email address via Edit my Profile. I think you then have to go to the bottom to submit the change

I have tried that, factor30 and it does not change. I have contacted the administrators who say that I have the correct email address registered, but it is not showing on my profile and cannot change it, so that is, perhaps, why my avatar is not showing.

I had someone else's avatar yesterday, soon got my real one back. Wait a while and maybe the happy pixies will sort it out for you.

The email address you're trying to use, has it been used on this site before with a different user name?

No - I have always had the same user name but did change my email address a couple of years ago - then had an avatar which was linked to my new address. But now, the avatar has appeared and on my profile, only my old, defunct email address shows, and there appears no way I can change it.

I've changed my email address on Answerbank a couple of times and had no problem. It was straightforward so either you are doing something wrong or there is a problem with AB

Have you contacted the Ed?

Go into AB Edit My Profile
Type in your new email address (which may have to be one that hasn't been used before for this or any previous user name).
Press the Submit button right at the bottom

factor30. It is maybe the ed I have contacted, however, I have been trying to change my email address by doing exactly what you have said and nothing happens except my old one comes back. And, although I can live without an avatar, it is annoying as I cannot subscribe to any thread as the email notifications are sent to my old email address.

Problem now solved - I was using an old account with a different user name which was not the one I used to register the avatar. So I shall have to revert to a different user name and I will have my avatar again.

I wonder whether some of your posts on here use the term username when you mean password.
Anyway, I like your avatar- I don't see any connection to muff but perhaps that's not a bad thing

mine has vanished as well and I haven't changed anything. The only thing I did do was try out the mobile AB.
