Editor's Blog: Flashing Important Message
32 Answers
Flashing Important Message: This 'thing' is extremely frustrating, if you try and get out of it on a normal x out, get pushed to another page, and sometimes another. OK it may help pay the bills, but should have an easier way to get out of it, please. I don't want to win prizes Thanks / Diolch.

Great News There's (1) iPhone waiting to be won - advertiser Apple We recommend that you run Windows Error Scan - advertiser eFIX plus others Maybe we are the old two who are getting this nuisance ads on AB.

Ab Editor + SIQ ... To Ab Editor; definitely yes, someone wants bank transfers to Zimbabwe, as I type this!! and SIQ ... thoughts appreciated, but that's not the answer. Additional note to Ed ... Surely you should be able to stop it, or even give us 'positive' advice as to how to do it. If you can't don't let's escalate this, just admit that you can't; is the revenue thread more important?? After your next post I will not follow this thread anymore.

clivebeca - It's not that we don't believe you, but we've taken the steps which should have seen this sorted out...
... which means that there's something else wrong/it's a different advertiser. It doesn't help that I don't get those flashing ads at all.
Our policy is to get rid of these ads asap, when reported, which we have attempted to do. If you could grab the source code of an ad and send it over, then we might be able to help more directly - but I think that would be asking a bit much of you (not because you'd be incapable, but it's probably now how you want to spend an afternoon).

Thanks Ed ... BUT! As you've seen I'm not the only one. If you can't see these Ads, then please tell me/us what browser you are using, and what is your Operating System. I'm on a MacBookPro, running the latest Mavericks. Are you saying that this may be only a Mac problem. sir.prize has confirmed the problem, and I don't know his Op system or browser of choice. Also, it may well be that other ABers just don't care !! I don't wish this to continue to run in the public domain. Please you have my email contact. I will NOT be answering anymore on this thread.
Hi clive . . . I am using a desktop with Operating System XP and Firefox browser. I've sent three screenshots to the Ed of various 'flashies', including the Flashing Important Message you refer to, but so far no reply.
I did a Malwarebytes full scan and unbelievably there were 125 threats. They were quarantined and I then allowed Adblock. Ran another malware scan 24 hours later - result no more threats. Is that a coincidence do you think?
