Answerbank Becoming Unusable ?
46 Answers
I have a desktop PC with Windows 7 and using IE11. I know a lot about computers.
I have been helping on AB for years, but it is now becoming unusable and I may give up.
I will be typing an answer and all of a sudden it freezes, then says AB has stopped responding and I lose everything.
All other web sites I use are fine but this is terrible.
Have you perhaps lost one of your main technical people because this has been happening for weeks.

I've always been under the impression it was a problem with my computer as it's gone on for some time.
But I'm afraid it only happens when I try to browse AB using IE11.
When I asked the same question Hans Urbancka came up with a plausible cause .." Just a few of my thoughts for you to think about".
IE 11 was developed for Windows 8, then was modified for Windows 8.1 and subsequently adapted for Windows 7, by being 'patched-up'.
In view of the fact that IE 11 has developed numerous incompatibilities with a number of Internet sites, you are left with the alternatives of reverting to your previous edition of IE (probably IE 9) or adopting a more reliable Browser. My choice would be to avoid Google Chrome and settle for Firefox; which does have a similar feel to IE , but is more reliable.

Recently I have had this issue of pages freezing when on AB when using IE11 (not on any other site) and I thought that it was solved when I changed to a new browser ..Chrome.
Sadly It also freezes on a regular basis (almost every time I browse AB).
It's becoming a joke .. advertising cant work if it drives people away ?
Using IE11 or Chrome and Windows 7 .. up to date.

Having just tried to type a reply to a post 5 times .. each time I am cut short to recover the web page. No one wants to own up to it, but it only happens here on AB. No problems on any other website.
Both IE11 and Chrome now give constant problems.
Enoughs enough .. I am going to head off to the allotment to get some tomatoes ! .. I really cant be bothered with it.

Just tested AB Home page and there are 62 Data Trackers that have to load before we can see the page. That slows down the page, and it also hugely increases the amount of data you use. If you are on mobile, you are charged for the amount of data you use.
62 Data Trackers is an alarming number. Their job is to mine information about YOU. What you look at, for how long, what time of day, what you click on and a whole host of other personal information.
