Normally Ed posts a message saying he is closing the thread to new replies but in your case TTT she didn't do this. On another thread querying this tonight I gave a link to around 150 other threads that Ed had closed and had told us he/she was doing so. There may be lots more where we weren't told or ed used a different message from "...closing this thread".
At least the threads remain for reference

The thread appears to have been closed. That will happen if the Ed (or a mod) thinks that things are getting out a bit out of hand (or, perhaps, wandering off topic) but there's still some merit in leaving existing posts online.
(The moderators got a new button to play with at the beginning of last week. I've not used it yet!)

Yes I wondered why that thread had been closed as well.
So why is it up to the Ed or Mods to decide when a thread is to close? Wouldn't a thread either naturally die and no one posts any more or the OP asks for it to be closed.
Threads often go off topic or morph into something else and unless the OP objects then isn't it just a natural progression of discussion?
