I have just tried to edit my profile but I keep getting the response, "Your Avatar is active. You may need to visit Gravatar.com" I've never had an avatar, so I don't understand that. But I have to be active on here anyway to edit my profile, don't I? Can anyone explain please?

I get a box which is already ticked saying my avatar is active then I get all the boxes relating to my profile.
I assume you want to amend your email address following the ed's explanation . You should be able to tab down to that bit
If you've used that email before I don't think it accepts it again.
Okay, perhaps I misunderstood the question. I'm not clear what you are asking/unable to do

I want to change my email address because I never use the one I first supplied.
So do you get as far as the option to change your address?
I'm puzzled as to where your avatar/non-avatar fits in to this
Have you ever had a different user name using the email address you're trying to use now?

ff, it might be ignorance of the techy thingy, but I go to the panel which shows my registered email address. I change the email address to the one I use now, enter my site password at the bottom of the page then press "Submit", but the email is still the same. The only thing I can see which might give areason for this, is at the top of the page, where it says "Your avatar is still active" Is that why it won't accept my change of email address? Otherwise, I dunno!
Did you manage to sort this out, 10CS?

ff, no, I didn't. AB Editor tried to help, as shown in the link, but any attempt at changing my email address for this site just brought the message that my password was incorrect. Ed hasn't offered any help since. Or comment. Is there any progress with this Ed?

When you enter the Edit Profile page try clicking the box (under your non-avatar) to deactivate said avatar first.
Then make your change. No guarantees.

Nope. Same result. It says I have entered the wrong password. How can that be? Anyway, AB Editor said my queries were answered with emails to the address supplied in my profile. I have checked that email address but there is nothing there from AB Editor. All very confusing.
Unless the Ab Editor thinks your account's been hacked and you're not 10CS, why can the Ed not send copies of the e-mails to the address you want to use?
