Why can't anyone change their Username on AB? Its the only Forum I'm on that does not give this facility. To avoid people changing their name every month (which I doubt would ever happen) you could have, for example, one change of name per year based on the email used by the user. What is the reasoning behing this please? ( holds breath....)

NO PROBLEM YA OLD TROUT
I'm not carping honestly!
just fishing for compliments, eh ;-)
BD: In theory your username should have changed, as it was on the Ed's list of changes. (See my link above). However, for some strange reason, not all of them actually came into effect.
I don't think many of them did, Buenchico. DJHawkes became MrsPatrickSwayze for a time, but possibly not under that amnesty.
Well I got your attention! lol
DJHawkes has posted here under countless usernames but, to the best of my knowledge, they've all been newly created accounts, rather than existing accounts where the username has been changed. (It's a bit like our beloved Henry, who seems to change his username monthly!)
true, she and TTT make a fine pair of multiple identities. Which I suppose APG could also do, nobody seems bothered.
Even though multiple identities aren't officially approved of, they seem to be tolerated. Even banned members, who's original identity hasn't come to light until some time after they've rejoined (and who haven't blotted their copybook too much during the intervening period) seem to be accepted back.

I've changed my Avatar instead. All I wanted was to change the name to APG, which is what most people refer to my username as.
Now I recall you liked my reference ( not to you ) as AuntAcid , haha, I get Bobbs most of the time or Soxy of theland :0)

Hi Bobbi -yes AuntAcid is great lol! Maybe next time...lol!
Or a play on words like antacid :0)))
I absolutely do not think people should be allowed to change their username.
You would get trolls sending diatribe then hiding.

Like that doesn't happen now?
Many years ago, with the then Editor's approval, I changed my user name. I don't think it happens now though.
I'm always amazed at how some folk recognize others when they return under new names
Me too, Corby. Usually I haven't a clue.

People can already do that by setting up a one off separate account. If you could just change your own user name on a whim then your post history would still be visible.

Might be a nice gesture to allow a name change to happen along with the promised site tidy-up, seeing as nothing much happened for the site's 20th birthday.
Even when folk drop hints, I'm none the wiser.
