Why can't anyone change their Username on AB? Its the only Forum I'm on that does not give this facility. To avoid people changing their name every month (which I doubt would ever happen) you could have, for example, one change of name per year based on the email used by the user. What is the reasoning behing this please? ( holds breath....)
BD: In theory your username should have changed, as it was on the Ed's list of changes. (See my link above). However, for some strange reason, not all of them actually came into effect.
DJHawkes has posted here under countless usernames but, to the best of my knowledge, they've all been newly created accounts, rather than existing accounts where the username has been changed. (It's a bit like our beloved Henry, who seems to change his username monthly!)
Even though multiple identities aren't officially approved of, they seem to be tolerated. Even banned members, who's original identity hasn't come to light until some time after they've rejoined (and who haven't blotted their copybook too much during the intervening period) seem to be accepted back.
// I absolutely do not think people should be allowed to change their username.
You would get trolls sending diatribe then hiding. //
People can already do that by setting up a one off separate account. If you could just change your own user name on a whim then your post history would still be visible.
Might be a nice gesture to allow a name change to happen along with the promised site tidy-up, seeing as nothing much happened for the site's 20th birthday.
