Get the italics feature fully working before you go on adding further features - the last thing we want is another dodgy feature. In the meantime we can use the conventional ones :-) ;-( etc.

Given that the written word is so often misinterpreted in the absence of tone of voice and bodily mannerisms and / or facial expressions, emojis would be good to convey that one is holding one's tongue firmly in one's cheek...

I think best answer should go. It makes it seem like a competition. And in some sections best answers are given only to people you agree with.
