everyone wants a site on which they can vent their views, ane or otherwise.

Some will only pay for it if there's more moderation. Others will only do so if there's less.

Many don't want to pay for it if they don't like the ads. Most don't want to pay for it at all, regardless.

Good luck with that. Perhaps the question should be "Are you happy for AB to go under because everyone wants everything free?"
ABS - // No friendly fire, please. //

I wasn't trying to be friendly!
AH? Her?
I think jno's hit the nail on the head there.
It is difficult, if not impossible AH to keep full control and pin point every sarcastic, off topic remark, but we do seem to have a instant demolition crew on standby of late. Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment. Because you have to deal with everyone that doesn't have it.
Let's not allow this to continue, please. I'm addressing it here and now.

Posts do not necessarily have to be on-topic but The AnswerBank reserves the right to remove posts that we feel are not on-topic. That being said, it is not against Site Rules to post off-topic answers.

Often discussions evolve and the topic of conversation changes, and that is fine.
You forgot fair moderation, Jno. :-)
what is this "fair moderation" of which you speak, gness?

I'm not sure if the quality/quantity of moderation is a real issue in whether people pay or not but I can guarantee there's no definition that will please everyone.
'Good luck with that. Perhaps the question should be "Are you happy for AB to go under because everyone wants everything free?"'

Clearly people do not want everything for free as people have mentioned donating, but if there is a cost they have a right to expect certain standards. Currently the moderation on this site falls far short of anything I'd pay for.

If funding is being looked at, I would suggest it covers the costs for paying people who are not members to do it.

Oh crikey!
Crikey indeed. I didn't say all moderators were doing a bad job, Andy and I think it's the inconsistency which is so frustrating (for me at least, anyway).

Have you clarified how you know it is a female mod who has been irritating Gness?
How would a subscription option work?

Would a subscription be required to post, but not to view?

Would a subscription be refunded pro rata for users who are suspended / banned?

Given the current active user base, what would be the amount of a monthly subscription required to get rid of the ads?
Zacs - // Have you clarified how you know it is a female mod who has been irritating Gness? //

No.
ZM, as I recall, the number of donors was minuscule. By far the majority of users want it free gratis and for nothing. The Eds may wish to tell me I'm completely wrong in this, but if I'm right then the only way the Eds can feed their children is by selling ads.
Well we've glossed over it but report her is a helluva giveaway. I didn't name the mod who upset me and neither should anyone else. It's not fair.
According to the poll, approx 80% are against paying for an add free AnswerBank and 20% are.
'Zacs - // Have you clarified how you know it is a female mod who has been irritating Gness? //

No.'

Why not?
sorry, 16:39, 20% are....in favour.
I'm talking about the number who have actually donated rather than the number who say they would if only...
OK, jno.
