Hello ABEd, as our beloved Mods don't get to see our reports would it be feasible to have a category where messages can be left for them without clogging up CB or other categories?
I am not the only one to have started a thread to bring spam to the attention of Mods when AB Towers is closed and the spam would not necessarily be obvious to them - when it is tacked on to a very old thread, for example.

What do you think?

There are ways of dealing with spam but often that makes the joining process more onerous and puts people off. I doubt it is bots doing it so whatever you put in place they will get round.

Easiest way for a small site like this is what is currently happening.

Thanks, naomi, I do not have the power yet. I know you and all the other mods do a great job with the spam but of course you can't be here all day, every day.

Agreed, young - joining and posting should be as easy as possible to encourage new members.

I subscribe to a local news page on FB - Birmingham Live - and that gets an awful lot of spam from India. I think the spammers believe it is Birmingham, Alabama or any other other Birminghams in the US. Some of the spam is revolting

I did volunteer in the recent past, my offer still stands.

The ones that get through without being picked up straight away are the ones that seem to be asking a very specific question then the advert comes a bit later just as an answer. Mostly for a product or service in india.

Generally, it is best to ban spammers so they can't continue to spam. This will also remove all of their content. To do this, navigate to the spammer's profile and click "Ban User".

Please, never ban a well-established member.

When you said that I immediately thought 'Dib dib dib' - the scouts' chant. And then I looked it up - and it isn't 'Dib dib dib' - it's 'DYB, DYB, DYB' - Do Your Best! That's all any of us can do - but I've learnt something today. :o)
