Spammers, Reporters and Bullies

Good Day everyone, hope we're well.


I wonder if we can discuss and agree the best way to deal with spammers?

The Editors do their best to get to reports as soon as they come in. Those which have come through today have been picked off asap.

I would suggest though that those who spot spammers avoid posting on their threads. By posting on their threads - even to say "reported" pushes the post back into the "latest posts" box which encourages others to look and comment.

While this is of little benefit to the spammers (they'll be gone shortly after anyway) it is a bit like forcing ad breaks into everyone else's AnswerBank viewing.

The following is mostly directed at the CB crowd:

There also seems to be a habit of some users of trying to "shout down" anyone who reports - something along the lines of "no one likes a grass".

This is nonsense. We provide functions to keep the site free of trolls and banned users. Use them.

The only time "no one likes a grass" has weight is in prison. If you are currently serving time in jail, I can only suggest a visit here: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Law/ to see where you went wrong.

I noticed a rash of bullying bubbled up last night. If you've found your account suspended, and you were involved, please don't contact us about it - it is permanent.

I won't tell a spammer that I've reported but generally will tell a poster that I've done so if I found it offensive.Which isn't that often really.....

Just proviing a point that they come on here and abuse and annoy innocent folk in their different guises under the radar and it's time for it to be stamped out permanently.

I'm sorry if you're annoyed with the links, but you must realise why i posted them.....we have all been, at some time, ridiculed on that deplorable site and i hope it gets shut down one day.

Is there only me who actually forgets that site until its mentioned on here? When it does get mentioned, i think "oh yeah" go for a quick nosey, get really bored and leave again, to be forgotten about until its mentioned again.

From what I can see, its mostly filled with "those two" and frankly, I tried to avoid both when they were here, i'll be buggered if I go actively seeking them out on another site.

Not just you......first time over there to look for ages, just to see how TT was responding to JTH.........the 'two' you mention make me nauseous even thinking about them.

As i said, maybe one day whoever runs that shambles of an unmonitored site will realise that it's time to close it. :0)

Well as you can see from Yogi's links I do post over there now and again often to try to calm things down, but sometimes for a bit of fun. Never to join in any slagging off.
