Hello!

The Lidl ads they've put on lately are so good! I especially like the parrot "Like" one, the old lady "tea" one and the bloke "Irish Cream" one.

What do you think of them? :)

None of the recent Aldi ones are really funny - none can beat the first two adverts they ever made with the little girls giggling "but I don't like BOYS!" ..... the second one was just as good - the little girls saying about baked beans "But they both make you TRUMP" - the look on their faces was priceless!! I keep hoping they will repeat those, they never failed to make us laugh out loud!

thanks fire, i will have a look around - me and Halifax daughter saw that 4 bird roast advertised and said it looks yummy, so we might have that for Christmas :)

thanks sherrard - Halifax kids' basic foods are ketchup, beans and juice, so I will have a nosey at them too! I love AB and all you lovely people on here :)
its a god alternative to turkey we had it last year when it was only three, we may get 2 so we can take some with us boxing day to the outlaws. Just watch the stuffing dosnt come out whilst cooking, i trust ours with more string last year, my hubby learnt a new skill xmas day last year!
Hi Halifaxmum - they do two sorts of juice, one with a proper plastic spout and one where you have to cut the corner off. They are both the same and and the cut-the-corner off one is about 12p cheaper (both are allegedly Del Monte).
Psst, don't tell anyone, but the tea/gin lady is Robinia.
Don't think I've seen the latest Aldi ads. They only ones I know are the "Spend a little, Live a lot" ones.
Dont like there magnum washing up liquid prefer Fairy
Someone asked earlier who the Agency is for these excellent aldi TV ads

They are the work of McCann Erickson Manchester
I think Aldi would be most upset to see their lovely adverts attributed to Lidl.
Aldi and Lidl are serious competitors, halifaxmum! I love Aldi.

oops! sorry! lol ;)
Is it not true that Aldi & Lidl are owned by brothers ?
Not only that but I think you will find the four bird roast is an Aldi special. You will not be able to get it in Lidl. Buy it quickly and put it in your freezer. They are very popular and tend to sell out.
Yes mojay, but they fell out http://uk.answers.yah...20080207033450AAncz3f
I read that link right through boxy and there seems to be varying opinions on whether they are related or not, some saying brothers, some cousins. There was a particularly long post giving a history of how Lidl started and no mention of Aldi or brothers or cousins. So still not certain.
Perhaps it's not the best link then, but it does say at the beginning that they fell out and started up in competition to each other.
Could be one of those urban myths.
Aldi and Lidl have nothing to to do with one another.
Aldi was owned by the Gebrüder Albrecht who fell out over serving fags over the checkout .
Lidl was founded way back in the 1930's by a family called Schwartz .Lidl was the name of a former partner of Schwartz called Ludwig Lidl .
They couldn't use the name Schwarzmarkt because that means black market .
They bought Lidl out for very little money but used his name .So poor old Ludwig lost out :)
Just googled it and wikipedia has extensive articles on both. They are completely separate entities - not related - but competitors. The two brothers who started Aldi did not fall out. One has since died and the other has retired and is apparently the richest man in Germany.
