Anyone else find the Red Cross crisis advert with the girl 'I'm the reason you're in a wheelchair...' etc really really unpleasant?

Yeah, freaky isn't it?

But that's the idea I guess.

I'm not sure Boo, it certainly doesn't make me want to donate, her smiling eyes are evil, just makes me think it's a clip from a nasty horror film.

Gawd factor, I don't know if you're serious!Are you?
i haven't seen this ad at all i don't think
no never seen that but i don't understand it either
No not really. Mind you I don't find it particularly hard hitting either. Doesn't make feel anything one way or the other so for me it's not a very good advert.
Sorry Prudie, it's a reflex reaction now to advert queries

Ah yes china but you can be hard to please:-)
<Chuckle> I'm so easy to please it borders on infantile sometimes in reality ;o)
I have seen it before- someone was on here a few days ago asking who the girl was. No-one has asked for the tune yet though.

Give it time factor
I find it really disturbing, I dont think I have been affect by an ad so much before.

Certainly doesnt make me want to donate.
I reckon it is to hammer home the fact that crisis can happen to absolutely anyone. Age, gender, wealth, race, nothing matters to crisis, it strikes regularly with wild abandon. And an awful lot in the uk. The Red Cross do not only support overseas. I think it works, although I admit it is freaky.

See needing a wheelchair, being traumatised after a Mway pile up or my child choking on a sweet is not a crisis to me but a life-changing disaster. I wouldn't expect the Red Cross to appear in those situations either. Of course they do brilliant work and I did think it was mainly abroad so it's educated me in that way. However the ad remains nasty - it's the manner of the girl.
