Only say how offended they made you feel if you can remember them from back then.

In those days there was no recognised PC. No long words with ism tagged on the end. I don't think people, in those days recognised the propaganda clap trap that is being indoctrinated into people these days. Real adults didn't look for ways to be offended. They were made of sterner stuff. Just endured pain and hardship in and just after WW2 and now had the cold war...

Can't imagine why there not still being used!
Laughable but they knew no better, same as we don't now with all the garbage that is driven into the heads of children today. Only sometime hence will we be comparing times now to times that are to come.
Of course people were offended. If they weren't they would still be acceptable today.
I didn't see many American adverts back then.

Why should anyone worry about that nonsense. No compensahuun for hurt feelings either. Different times and sadly different people.!!
People are so easily offended these days. Somebody somewhere ALWAYS takes offence !
The vast majority (if not all) of those ads are American, so we didn't get them over here. Obviously the "reporter" had nothing better to do than trawl the internet.
I made that point yesterday Tommy - American ads were really quite different to ours back then.

That is not to say quite a few or our ads portrayed now outdated stereotypes, they did.
^ apologies - Tony, not Tommy - eye drops!!
Sadly, with 'womens lib' women have lost a lot of respect they had. I know these ads don't seem to portray respect for females but you can bet that those women would have had doors opened for them, would have been given seats on buses and probably have seen men doff their hats at them. Now if an older person calls you 'darling' you can see him visibly retract as if he's called you something nasty and is awaiting a snappy reply. People were more respectful to one another then and expected to see the irony and even sarcasm in the adverts that we now find 'shocking'.
