If we all wait a month or two will a great new compilation arrive featuring the Velvet Underground, Martin Grech, Royksopp, Aqualung, etcetera and save us the problem of trying to find them separately?

here's a question for you. you hear a piece of music on the radio and you think nothing of it. yet it's on an advert and everybody loves it, can't live without owning it and goes to great lengths to find out what it is. WHY? Nobody could possibly have such catholic tastes in music as to REALLY like all the tracks mentioned above (enough to buy them), surely? There's so much good music out there that DOESN'T appear on adverts - go seek it out. Start with the new Coldplay album. Rant over. NB this is not a personal attack on the asker of this question - i'm just curious why people behave like they do.

on a slightly more sober note, compilation albums are often hindered by rival labels not allowing their songs to be used, hence the very silly situation of 'The Best Punk Album in the World...Ever' having no Clash on it. You're never going to get all the tracks you want on such an album.

Perhaps people have such a lack of patience to listen to anything new, they can only deal with it in thirty second bursts repeated nightly and attached to adverts they watch passing time between tv shows.
