I think she is cracking.  It is obvious how much she loves children - often instinctively kneeling down to their level.  I remember seeing her giving a little boy her poppy once (but made sure she gave her pin to his mum).  She also seems quite "hands on" as a mother. 

I admit to being incredibly irritated by her (in a nice way though) since she always look immaculate.  She effortlessly and elegantly wears very high heels whereas I look like I am crippled after an hour in anything higher than an inch and five minutes after putting my best frock on I have snagged it on a door or split something on it!!!!
