Idk if that's what they are called. It's one of those sticks you place on a platform and let it burn to make the place smell good. Well, my aunt recently moved into my house, and my cat lives with us. My auntwad burning an incense a couple of weeks ago, and I told her I don't want those burning around my cat. She said that the one she was burning was the last one, so I let her burn the rest of it. I probably should have told her to put it out then and there. It doesn't seem to bother my cat, but I dont want to chance her getting respiratory problems. I woke up this morning and my aunt had one in the kitchen burning again. I didn't say anything but I was pretty angry. I don't think my anger was unwarranted, but what do you think?

On a previous question you stated

'Me, and my aunt moved into a neighborhood a couple of months ago'

That does not seem to match with the story you are telling now!

Perhaps you should explain to your housemate (who may or may not share the bills)

that When incense is burned, it releases polyaromatic hydrocarbons, carbonyls, and benzene, which are suspected carcinogens. This is a fancy way of saying that incense contains allegedly harmful chemicals.

Do you worry about your own health? Do you worry about your aunt's health? Are you more worried about the cat than yourself and your aunt? Burning questions; I think we should be told.

Dangerous thing an incensed cat.

Apparently candles are bad for health, as are open fires, cigarette smoke, air freshener sprays and vehicle exhausts.

Oh, I forgot to mention guns.

...And lightning strikes, the internet, overeating.

And, of course, worry itself.

You are unreasonable about most things. Why not report her when you reporting the raccoon feeding person?

I hate being around them too, I've never found one that smelt nice mind.

I went to a catholic funeral last week and they wave all that stuff about stinks to high heaven.

For anyone who doesn't know, highly scented candles and incense are actually bad for cats. From Rover.com

Burning incense might create a relaxing atmosphere for you, but it can pose serious risks to your cat's health. From toxic ingredients to harmful smoke, even small amounts can irritate their lungs or overwhelm their sensitive noses. The safest choice is to avoid incense altogether and explore cat-friendly alternatives.4 Feb 2025

Were you incensed ?

My 6 current permanent and 2 visiting cats have been around inscense all their lives, oldest now 14, and none have ever had any problems. The rooms in my house are quite big and no doors are shut when the incesnce is burning. I have had numerous cats and none have ever been affected by incense or my wood burning stove.

You are so bothered by what other people do how do you even sleep. Fires, leaves, animals, raccoons, family, anti freeze and all the other infractions, perceived or real how do you enjoy life

If someone moved into my home and burned incense, lit smelly candles or anything like that they'd be booted out of the door straightaway, regardless of my cat.

Horrible things (not cats - I love them)

That's the thing about smelly candles, they're wicked.

🤣
