I've been trying to find out this as well and the nearest I have heard is a version by Jewel
i think its leaving on a jet plane from the late 60s i believe, it was one of my favourites as a kid, dont know the name of ad though sorry.
Yes, beautiful ad.

The song is 'Leaving on a Jet Plane', originally written and recorded by John Denver, but this isn't him as far as I know - doesn't sound like him.
A group called Peter, Paul and Mary had a big hit with this. Dont know who sings this version though.
Chantal Kreviazuk has a version which is available on her myspace site.

It's not working when tried but it might be the version you are after.

aw thanks its a cute version, not sure if its the one in the advert though <3 x

I know the song is so lovely, it is sang by Sophie barker (www.sophiebarker.com) formerly a singer for Zero 7. I can't seem to find it anywhere though unfortunately, let me know if you know otherwise!

James

I have read that it is a cover by Sophie Barker from' Zero 7' who has a gorgeous voice. however i can't find the song. but i reckon given the populairty of it, it'll come available soon enough

Dido sung it
I read the press release from the ad cmpany who made it, it is definately Sophie Barker who sings it but it is unfortunately not on her album! Hopefully it will come out though as it is SO nice.

James

Yes I love this version of the song too, and like an earlier poster said it is apparently by a lady called Sophie Barker. I tried to track it down via the Net but as it doesn't appear to be in 'single' form yet my search has been fruitless so far.

I do have both the John Denver and the Peter, Paul and Mary versions of the song though if anyone would like either/both e-mailed to them in mp3 form?

I heard a similarly evocative 1970s ditty during the snooker coverage last week. The BBC were doing a tribute piece to Jimmy White set to Gordon Lightfoot's 'If You Could Read My Mind'. Stunning song

This post should clear things up, the performer is Sophie Barker. The bad news is it was recorded specifically for the advert, and probably wont be available for commercial release.

"British Airways is launching its first television campaign created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) during Coronation Street tomorrow (28 April).

The ad features clouds forming into dolphin shapes outside the window of a BA plane and is soundtracked by the song Leaving On A Jet Plane. The song is performed by Zero7 singer Sophie Barker while actor Art Malik provides the voiceover.

There is a 40 second spot accompanied by a 10 second spot to top and tail ad breaks. The ad was shot by Danny Kleinman"

Sophie Barker sang the ad and the music was made by music producer KK, the two of them have a childrens album out called 'LULLABY' which is really really nice (not just for kids!), and very similiar to the music used on the BA ads
I know this is an old post, but just in case people are still looking for it, I managed to find a great copy on mp3 (3,803kb).

If anyone's desperate, send me an email.
