Tom Tom
Does the new advert for Tom Tom really annoy anyone else out there or is it just me? Scott Scott, and now there is a new one with a woman who has a dubbed voice who says her husbands name twice over at least 10 times. What is wrong with the people who create these adverts? Dont they realise that rather than make me want to buy their product it actually makes me want to avoid it.

Obviously I am not going to do that so instead I tend to stick my fingers in my ears and hum so I cant hear her. Luckily the person I work with is off at the moment so I dont look a complete looney in front of anyone else. They make me so angry though.
I suspect that the makers know that it's a rubbish advert but all they care about is getting the name in people's heads. I think that I'm going to need to get a priest to exorcise 'Sheila's Wheels' out of my brain.
I agree with you about boycotting products that have rubbish adverts but I think that many people are less discerning and, faced with a choice between something they've heard of and something they haven't, will opt for the devil they know.
Christmas is ruined for me every year by DFS sale adverts. I can't imagine anything worse but presumably it gets enough couples down there on Boxing Day to make it a money-spinner.
People are stupid.

I remember watching Lee Evans Live a few years ago and one of the things that stuck in my mind that he said was about how in the future adverts were more likely to be sex orientated to sell their product. I am sure this is true - take the Herbal Essence shampoo advert for example - the woman washing her hair making ooh and aah noises - its disturbing to think you can get that much enjoyment out of washing your hair (and the old gal in the next room just scares the hell out of me!)
