I was trying to explain an old advert to my husband tonight.I remember it being in the 70's or 80's.It featured a man in a possibly green all in one leotard. He runs in slow motion towards the screen. The funniest thing is that he was quite well endowed and swung quite a bit(appologies to those of a sensitive disposition). They had quite a few complaints about this advert and the man was replaced with a rather weedy looking man dressed the same and also running towards the screen.
My husband cannot remember the advert and reacons it is some sort of weired fantasy of mine.
Please put me out of my misery and tell what the advert was for and prove my husband wrong.

This rings a few bells with me, feebee.

Rather a poor quality advert, if I remember - akin to the cheap, shouty "Land of Leather" adverts today.

I can't honestly remember the product advertised - but I think the man featured was called "Mr. Pound" - (as in '' - not as in a quarter pounder!!)

was the slogan " As you walk through the door your pounds worth more".This popped into my head when I was explaining to my hubby.
Do you/did you live in the Yorkshire TV area?

the green-clad well-hung superhero advertised an establishment called "Williams", who used to sell furniture and carpets (maybe still do for all I know!)

This was a typical cheaply-produced regional ad, and the general premise may have been used in other TV areas to advertise their local stores.

No at the time i lived in the Midlands, but Williams does ring a bell.

Just looked it up on the internet.Mentions the jingle but not the well hung man.Think it's the same advert though.
I always remember this as an ad for texas stores (DIY), this was in the 70's (must have been because I left school in 78) and we changed the jingle to "When you walk through the door, your balls hit the floor - at Texas - where else" - I think the original was "as you walk through the door - your pound is worth more - at Texas - where else"
It's from an old Williams Furniture ad... he said..."As you walk through the door your pound is worth more... at Williams of course."
Yes he was very well endowed. I've looked everywhere trying to find a clip.
I remember this advert well and my recollection is a baggy green pseudo super-hero costume and he did indeed appear pretty well endowed! It was for Williams' furniture store. At school we used to say "When you walk through the door your b@lls drag on the floor - at Williams. Where else!"

I remember that it for Waldmans (think it was a furniture store) and he swung quite a lot!!
Ok, it's 7 years since the original enquiry but I was wondering about the same thing recently. You see the part I remember (and which no-one else has mentioned) was as the super hero type chap strode forward with his manhood swinging like Big Ben's pendulum, there was this booming, reverberating voice which slowly bellowed "P O U N D P O W E R". This is vivid to me because as children my sister and I would glean hours of hilarity by borrowing our elder sibling's pyjama bottoms and thrusting the largest object that would fit down the front of them before trying to run while saying " Pound Power" in as deep a voice as a runty 12 year old can muster. I'm glad I was 12 when I saw this because it was genuinely amusing. Today I would be appalled.
Ok, this ad was for Williams, the ad started with "pound man" running in slow motion with his crown jewels swinging like a grandfather clock pendulum, the voice over said "pound power" then the sale items were introduced (in a very tacky way), the end of the ad they had pound man standing with hands on hips saying "When you walk through the door, your pounds worth more at Williams, where else?". If only somebody had a copy it would be a youtube sensation
When you walk through the door your pounds worth more at Williams where else?
The 'weedy man' in the later ads was none other than Charles Hawtrey, who ended his ads by primly pulling his top down over his rather less overstuffed superhero kecks...
