That advert is ace and the reason why it says mastication is that it means Biting and grinding food in your mouth so it becomes soft enough to even swallow. And so what if it is a jamacan dude. Its a bloudy advert are you lot saying you like all the other adverts, i think this one is the best advert and omg have you people tasted the gum the man is right it is delicious best gum ever n trust me i should know about this they do all sorts of flavours and it has been around for year look it up if you dont belive me. But if you dont like it then fine but i know people who do lol its magnificiant. i could say something now n you could argue to that like the diamond advert. imagine that man on the advert doin that whilst you are goin shoping ill be laughing n want his signature.
Would you believe it!!! Racist??

Mastication means: To chew food. There is no problem with using this word before the watershed, bottom line. I won't dedicate any further time to arguing that point.
The use of a Jamaican accent by one who is not Jamaican for the purpose of being memorable and distinct is permissible in my opinion.
The alarmingly common position that the advert is an affront to an ethnic group- intentional or not- is cynical at best. In the opinion of this author, it indicates a predication on the part of the offended to being offended.
My advice to those people? Watch less TV.

i have just complained via the net to the ASA about this advert and the uswitch advert this is what i said :
"i find this ad highly offensive on the grounds of racism, and also to members of evangelical christian churches. In a society that is apparently moving forward to eradicate institutionalized racism advertising campaigns such as this and the "trident soft chewing gum" advert appear to condone dispicable racial stereotyping and do nothing but send the evolution of interracial harmony retrograde. I insist that both these advertisements are withdrawn from broadcast immediatly and an inquiry into their initial presence effected by the ASA."
i reccomend anyone upset by these to fill up the ASA in box with a complaint or phone them on 02074922222
