Guinness Light
Linda Barker.
Recent ones that spring to mind - the animated Howard Halifax ads (I don't mind the real Howard), 'Quote me happy!', I'm finding the Anna Friel 3 ad extremly annoying, especailly the the way she says, '...an actress.', the Al Murry Moft Sints ads, any perfume ad, the yacult ads, and the diet coke, shop window ad gets more annoying everytime I see it.
There are many but the most recent ones are the ghastly 'Disney' family with the mmmagic child and the drippy 'I'm too excited to sleep' father. Then there's the DFS with the ever-present Linda Barker who has obviously been given enunciation lessons as her mouth has taken on a life of its own. Lastly, the double-glazing ad which has included Reg Holdsworth, Cannon and Ball and the very odd little man with long 70's hair and a bowler hat who thinks the viewer is profoundly deaf. Don't start me on the Shake 'N' Vac.....
" ...brings the freshness back..." Cetti. That's the trouble, isn't it ? Some adverts are SO irritating but the product gets remembered; on the other hand there are plenty of ads that are amusing or good works artistically but nobody can remember which brand it is for. We know it's for coffee or an insurance company but we can't remember which one. I hate esure insurance ads with Michael Winner; but it is a sad fact that that and Churchill, with the nodding dog, are the only two car insurers I can name offhand.
I think Anna Friel is eclipsing Linda Barker in the irritation stakes, although 'Quote me happy' makes me personally feel quite murderous. When the Sharwoods woman 'Did ya hear that- arrrromaaatic spiiiiices' comes on I have to be physically prevented from kicking in the telly.
Dustybin I couldnt agree more, just reading what you said "aromatic spices" (in that stupid voice) made we want kick my PC screen let alone my telly.
