Ironic ads

why is it that when advets use women as sex objects its seen as ironic? as in the lynx adverts.

Know what you mean!! You can get away with alot of things with "irony"! bottom line from the ad-execs is that "people" are "educated enough to see this irony". At the end of the day, in my opinion,that only works for people who actually were exposed to the original ads in the 70's. So for instance,the "irony" would be lost on a 17 year old.xx
