You hear on the tv and radio of offers of phone contracts with unlimited texts or minutes... then in the small print it says this is liable to a fair use policy, say 3,000 texts a month.
Surely they're lying in their description of Unlimited then? Shouldn't they advertise it as 3,000 texts instead of Unlimited? I'm not saying that 3,000 isn't loads and probably more than enough for nearly everyone, but I just don't get how they can advertise something as Unlimited and then say it is not!!
Shouldn't the regulator be stopping this??? Misleading advertising etc??
It's just the same with these internet companies - your broadband is unlimited unless you go over a certain download limit (which is unpublished in some cases!). All ISPs seem to have a fair use policy in place which you are tied to when you sign up, regardless of whether they explain the terms properly, it seems.
So, basically they are "misleading" ads, but the regulators don't seem bothered and therefore it will continue.
