Just wondering why is it that you set your tv to a suitable volume to watch your show, when the adverts come on the tv is so loud you need to turn it down by about half then you can not hear the programme any more (when it finally restarts).

This seems to be worst on sky channels.

We have the same problem.
It is so annoying.
Think the Paramount channel is the worst.

it is seriously annoying Cruella. I thought at first it was phycological, in that you want to hear the programme and the ads were "background noise". I tested this using adobe auditon software and you can see the volume increse in the size of the waveform.
We have the same problem and its on Sky, I have to agree the with above post it seems to be on the comedy channels.
It's nothing to do with you or your settings, it's the same for everybody on ALL satellite channels and, to an extent, on terrestrial.
It's interesting - everyone knows the ads. are louder - it's a subliminal tool used to increase your attention to the adverts.

The craxy thing is - the advertisers and the TV companies deny that they do this!

I know that as the 'general public' we are stupid, but hey, we're not THAT stupid!
this question was on points of veiw once, they say its because for example>>
say the last scene on corrie ie vera passing away, its a very quiet scene and your brain adjusts to that. then the adverts come on which has music on. well the sound of the music would be louder, so mentally you think the adverts are too loud and its the telly. you can try it yourself.
put a music channel on for say 5 mins or so then turn to a docamentry channel and you will see its the same.
And what's the most used button on my sky remote control?
Yep - The mute button for those friggin ads!
