Actually, Seal didn't become a star in his own right until the 90s. He had major hits in the UK with the singles off his self-titled 1991 debut, particularly 'Crazy'. But he's famous for taking long gaps between albums, and by the time he released his second (also self-titled) album in 1994, his popularity was waning here. It took an apperance on the 'Batman Forever' soundtrack to make the track 'Kiss From A Rose' a big hit, and Seal's third album, 1998's 'Human Being', raised barely a ripple in Britain. He remains popular in the States, though.

reports that Seal has a new album, called 'Togetherland', provisionally due for release in February 2002. But I wouldn't expect it to set the UK charts alight
