When celebs are paid handsomely for endorsing products, why do people pay to wear advertisements: for instance, why do Dads pay 40 for a tatty replica footie shirt so his child can advertise, say, Northern Rock? Why do punters pay more for a t-shirt carrying a Guinness ad than for an identical t-shirt without an ad on it?

The advertisement has nothing to do with why i would buy a shirt.

I would wear my football replica shirt if it advertised, AIDS, Brothels of the labour party. It's about the club colours & showing support.
