i heard that people from the john lewis company recorded the song themselves.
but saxy_jag is probably right.

The song iin the current John Lewis Ad is "Sweet child of mine" sung by Victoria Bergsman ex of "The Concretes" and now singing with "Taken by trees", who are a Swedish folky type group.
