Old British Adverts

"Where can I find an old Britsh T.V. Advert featuring a man who keeps loosing in life with the narration going something like this: "This is the man that bet all his money on ........only to see the smart money go."

I think its a watch advert and it was from the nineties but not sure.

Can't help thinking it was for VW Golf : "If Only Everything In Life Was As Reliable..."

I remember the advert but for the life of me I can't remember what it was for....

Wasn't that the ad for the VW Golf, because I think he has a smile on his face all the way through the ad and it becomes apparent why when he get's into his car and his face is beeming!
I might be wrong but it is ringing bells!
